A 53-YEAR-old man reported missing and in a distressed state by his family sparked a search mission by Exmouth's RNLI crew.

The inshore lifeboat, the George Bearman, was launched on Saturday lunchtime and tasked to search the river and sea for the missing Brixham man, who had left home earlier the same morning.

The lifeboat crew, coastguards, police and paramedics joined in the search to locate the man who was later found safe and well on Dawlish Warren beach.

The Exmouth inshore lifeboat crew transported a paramedic to the area to check the man over.
