A catamaran which capsized off Budleigh Salterton was towed to safety by Exmouth RNLI and the coastguard
A catamaran which capsized in waters off Budleigh Salterton beach on Sunday prompted ‘numerous’ calls to Portland Coastguard and sparked an emergency services’ rescue.
Exmouth’s RNLI inshore lifeboat was launched and Exmouth coastguard rescue officers tasked to help, after three people onboard the boat were thrown into the water.
The lifeboat crew rescued the trio before towing their boat back to shore, where the coastguard was on standby to help.
A spokesperson for Portland Coastguard said: “The casualties were cold after their time in the water, but otherwise unhurt.”
