EXMOUTH RNLI is giving people the chance to take a look around its new multi-million pound boathouse, this month.

Although the RNLI has ongoing problems with the new concrete ramp - and tests are currently under way - the Exmouth crew is holding an open day at the new station, near Maer Rocks, from 10am on Saturday, August 29, to celebrate the new RNLI shop, crew training, administration and communications operating from the new building.

On the day, visitors will be able to visit the new shop, the main boathouse hall, the Inshore Lifeboat (ILB) and its crew, the RNLI lifeguards and members of the RNLI sea safety team.

The tractor and trailer for towing the all-weather lifeboat will be parked outside.

At around 2pm, the charity's lifeguards and inshore lifeboat crew will hold a sea demonstration to show how they work together.

RNLI lifeguard supervisor for Exmouth and East Devon Rory Smith said: "There have been a few instances this year where the lifeboat crew and lifeguards have worked together to provide a seamless rescue and this demo will give the general public a flavour of how we work together in these situations."
