Residents to be quizzed on recycling trial

Households taking part in recycling trials in The Colony will soon be asked how the new service is working for them.

From mid-September, residents have been using a recycling service, which collects cardboard and mixed plastics for the first time, in a trial by East Devon District Council.

Recycling is collected every week, with the grey wheelie bins collected only once every three weeks, which the council says is made possible by increased recycling. So far the trial has seen an almost 60 per cent increase in recycling in The Colony.

Residents will soon receive a questionnaire about the service, which will help the council decide on any future changes.

Councillor Iain Chubb, the council’s portfolio holder for the environment, said: “The initial results of the trials have been really exciting and we’re grateful to everyone who is going that extra mile, taking part and getting onboard.

“We need to know how it’s working for our residents and the short questionnaire will really help us develop the service further.”

The questionnaire will be sent out later this month. Households will have until November 30 to complete and return it.
