A PERFECT day for walking the dog turned into a near-tragedy when a dog fell from Exmouth cliffs.Exmouth Coastguard Rescue Team went to the rescue, at the weekend, after calls from people at Sandy Bay who had seen a border collie fall from Orcombe Point. Along with Exmouth RNLI Lifeboat, the team brought the badly injured dog to the lifeboat house. They managed to trace the owners of the dog, who were then driven to an emergency vet by one of the lifeboat crew. Portland Coastguard Watch Officer Maddy Davey said: "The good weather today has meant many dog walkers will flock to the coastline for a scenic walk along the cliffs. "Members of the public may be aware that they need to keep away from cliff edges to stay safe, but their dogs may not, and, therefore, it is recommended they keep their dogs on a lead.
