IF you have unwanted Christmas cards to recycle there is still time to head to St Luke's Church, in Newton Poppleford, where you can drop them off.

For the rest of the month, until noon on Sunday January 31, there will be a box in the church porch to leave the cards for recycling.

The church is open seven days a week, 9am-5pm.

The money raised from the Woodland Trust-run scheme will be ploughed directly back into tree planting work.

A spokesperson for St Luke's Church said in 2009 it was thought the village saved more than 30,000 cards from becoming landfill.

The spokesperson said: "Last January more people than ever put their used Christmas cards into the collection bin rather than throwing them away.
