POPULAR Exmouth artist Ray Balkwill is backing an auction to raise funds for a children's charity.The auction, organised by the Exeter-based South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts, features over 200 original artists' postcards. Proceeds will go to both the academy and Children's Hospice South West - and donating artists include Sir Peter Blake, Alan Cotton, Mary Fedden, Clifford Fishwick, Simon Drew, Charles Reid, Peter Randall-Page and Michael Morgan.Postcards covering all areas of the arts are also represented, with work being included from authors, poets, and film makers, to television celebrities, photographers and musicians. Cards have been received from Nicholas Evans, Michael Morpurgo, Brian Patten, Sir Alan Parker, Chris Chapman, Andrew Marr, Tim Smit and Coldplay.South West Academy Trustee and Academician Ray Balkwill said: "It is a fantastic opportunity for people to obtain superb art at realistic prices from some of the top artists in the country."And there should be something to suit everyone's taste and pocket."All the postcards will be on display in the windows of Debenhams, in Princesshay, Exeter, from April 7 to 20. The auction takes place at the Royal Clarence Hotel, Exeter, on April 22 at 6pm.
