Convicted rapist Kristoffer White, from Exmouth, has been jailed for nine years after being found guilty of two counts of rape. White attacked a barmaid as she walked home from work in 2008.

An Exmouth man found guilty of raping a barmaid in 2008 as she walked home from work has been jailed for nine years.

Ex-soldier Kristoffer White, 22, formerly of Raleigh Road, Exmouth, was sentenced at Exeter Crown Court on Friday after being found guilty of two counts of rape.

White repeatedly denied he had raped the 19-year-old young woman, threatening to kill her if she did not comply with his wishes, dragging her into a garden in Raleigh Road in March 2008.

DNA evidence taken from White after he was cautioned by police after vandalising a car in 2010 resulted in a partial match to the 2008 Exmouth rapist.

The court heard how the chances of the DNA belonging to anyone other than White were 5.5million to one.

Judge Graham Cottle said the victim’s recount of her horrific rape had never been in any doubt.

When passing sentence to White he said: “You might have got away with it but you didn’t, and for which you must pay for such a horrible attack on a young girl.”

Commenting after the sentencing, senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Gregg Dawe said: “We are very pleased with today’s outcome and that justice has been seen to be done.

“It will also hopefully, in some small way, assist the victim in coming to terms with her horrendous ordeal that she suffered in 2008 and has had to live with since.

“This case highlights the seriousness in which we treat reported rapes and that we continually review undetected cases to identify possible new lines of enquiry.”
