BAYFM, an Exmouth based community radio station, is looking for a new home.

For the past three years, the not-for-profit station has been operating trial broadcasts out of an old building in Camperdown Terrace - but as these premises may be up for redevelopment, the station needs to find somewhere more permanent.

The community radio station hopes to gain a full time broadcasting license but until then they plan to run the service on the internet, initially at weekends. Andy Green, Bayfm Station Manager said; "Going online is the only way BFM can offer a radio presence in the area until we have been granted a full-time FM licence."

He added; "Ofcom looks favourably when granting a licence to a station that has been broadcasting online and has premises, studios and equipment already in place."

With another trial broadcast in May 2009, the team is hoping to find suitable premises as soon as possible.

Andy Green, Bayfm Station Manager said; "We hope that local organisations, musicians, schools in the area, plus Exmouth Community College will continue to feature in our programmes, and Bay FM is also aiming to offer broadcast training courses allowing newcomers of all ages to gain access into the radio industry."

The ideal premises would be 300 - 400sq ft which can be portioned

into rooms - a main studio, editing room, transmission equipment room and a small reception area.

The station would also require 24 hour access with its own entrance.

As the radio station is run by volunteers, they are unable to afford full rental rates.

They would be willing to pay a discounted rent or except the premises as a donation or as sponsorship for the station.

If you can help or know of anywhere they might be able to use, please call Andy Green on 07772 947 199 or email radio@bayfm.co.uk
