A trio of pupils from Marpool Primary School is to challenge youngsters from across the country after winning the South West Milano Gymnastics championships, writes Daniel Green.

Twins Alife and Archie Luxton, along with Louie Sagan, who are all in year four, are to travel to Stoke on Trent to compete in the National Milano National Team Finals in March.

The gymnasts topped the scoreboards at the regional competition in Bideford, after their performances in the individual floor routine, individual vault and combined group floor routine.

The headteacher at Marpool Primary School, Rachael Pattison, said: “They are real ambassadors for the school.

“I am delighted with their progress, commitment and effort. They work really well together as a team.

“It is about understanding their strengths and weaknesses.”
