PET owners can protect their beloved cat, dog or rabbit from fatal diseases for the price of just a booster - thanks to an innoculation amnesty by vets across Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton.

As part of National Vaccination Month, Raddenstiles, Corner House and Howard House Veterinary Surgeries are participating in an amnesty for the UK's 11 million unprotected dogs, cats and rabbits at risk - offering them a full vaccination course.

A recent survey showed that 46 per cent of vets had seen incidents of the killer dog disease parvovirus in the past year, while cat flu was seen by 81 per cent during a single month.

Vets blame ongoing mild weather for putting domestic rabbits at risk of myxomatosis, a fatal disease spread by biting insects, which was particularly prevalent last autumn.

Chris Ridge, clinical director of Raddenstiles surgery, is urging pet owners to protect against these diseases.

He said: "More than half of all cats and dogs are not up to date with their vaccinations against a range of nasty diseases, some of which are fatal, widespread and on the increase.

"If your pet is one of them, you could benefit from the vaccination amnesty. If your cat or dog has not been vaccinated in the past 18 months, simply take your pet into a participating veterinary practice during March and they will be given a full vaccination course for the price of the first vaccine."

If your dog or cat has not been vaccinated in the past 18 months, or the past nine months for rabbits, log on to www.vaccinationmonth.co.uk to download your voucher and book your appointment with:
