Premier Inns proposed designs for Exmouth

Building work on a new 60-bedroom seafront Premier Inn will start next Tuesday morning.

Hotel and council bosses say that the work, which includes a car park and restaurant, will begin after some preliminary tree works have been carried out.

These were due to take place yesterday (Wednesday).

Whitbread PLC, the owners of Premier Inn, has previously said that it expects that the building will be completed by January/February 2015.

The building work starts in the same week that the new Queen’s Drive toilets were completed, which were paid for from cash following the sale of the Elizabeth Hall site.

An East Devon District Council (EDDC) spokesman said: “EDDC and Whitbread PLC are pleased to confirm that some preliminary tree works will be carried out on the Premier Inn site by East Devon Tree Care starting (yesterday) Wednesday, April 23, to allow for the commencement of building work by the contractors next week.”
