The owners of an Exmouth beach are celebrating a double awards success.

Sandy Bay, owned by Devon Cliffs Holiday Park, has received a Blue Flag Award and Seaside Award from environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy.

The Blue Flag recognises high standards for cleanliness, facilities and water quality, while the Seaside Award recognises beaches which are well managed and maintained.

Sandy Bay is one of only six beaches in Devon to receive both accolades for 2016.

Devon Cliffs resort director Dave Bennett said: “We have invested greatly, both in our team and resources, to ensure we keep our beach an award-winning one.

“We take great pride in our biggest attraction, which was used by over 65,000 visitors from the park and surrounding area in 2015.”

Keep Britain Tidy’s coastal award manager Paul Todd said: “As an environmental charity, Keep Britain Tidy is committed to improving the quality of the places where people live, work and holiday.

“These winners have proved their commitment to providing the best possible beaches for locals and visitors alike.

“Visitors can be sure, if they visit a Blue Flag or Seaside Award-winning beach, they are visiting one of the best beaches in the world.”
