Post Office pledge follows closure threat

The Post Office says it will seek out a new location for its Lympstone branch, if the shop that currently houses it is sold.

The current shop in The Strand has been placed on the market with Hall and Scott by owner Peter Chisman, who says it has been up for sale for a long time, but is now being advertised locally.

A spokesman for the Post Office said: “We are committed to maintaining a service for the people of Lympstone, and will be working hard to find a new location to ensure there is no break in service. The branch is still open at the moment, and in the meantime we will be looking for somewhere else to house it.”

In an unrelated move, Lympstone’s Londis store was closed at the end of last week, but it has now reopened.

At a Lympstone Parish Council meeting this week, councillors said they were monitoring the situation, and had spoken to the Londis store’s owners.
