LITTLEHAM police are urging parents to stop youngsters playing on garage roofs in a bid to prevent a tragedy.

Officers at Exmouth said they had received reports children have been risking their lives in Summer Close.

Letters have been delivered to homes locally by the police in their drive to keep youngsters safe.

Police community support officer for Littleham, Malcolm Maguire, said: “This practice has to stop for safety reasons as there is a clear sign on the garages warning of a fragile roof that can only be accessed using crawling boards by trained personnel. Also, if the garages are damaged, then the young people could be liable for criminal damage.”
