PEOPLE living in Moormead are being urged by the police to lock their doors.

The warning comes after a spate of overnight burglaries was carried out in the area after the culprit was able to gain access to the homes through unlocked doors.

The police said the burglar is targeting rear doors of the properties and, once inside, is taking car keys or anything to hand.

One attempt to pick the lock of a home was made, the police said.

Budleigh Salterton police community support officer Malcolm Maguire said the warning was necessary because at this time of year many people left doors and windows open and unlocked.
