THE police are warning people to be on their guard against fraudsters paying for expensive goods with cheques that bounce.

Officers are advising people not to part with goods until cheques have cleared, which can take up to three days.

The warning comes following a spate of frauds where cars have been advertised for sale and have been bought by cheques which have bounced.
