Speeding motorists be warned - Exmouth police are to carry out speed checks in the town over the festive season.
Exmouth police have announced speed checks will take place in the town during the run-up to Christmas and start of New Year.
Officers are appealing for public help to monitor friends and family who maybe tempted to drink and drive over the festive period.
Drink drivers face a fine, jail sentence or losing their licence if caught.
Anyone who spots a drink-driver is urged to immediately contact the police.
Brixington Police Community Support Officer Chris Ball said: “In the run up to Christmas and the start of a New Year, police will be monitoring speeding motorists on Exmouth roads.
“If you have any concerns for anyone over the festive period who may be a drink driver, please call 999 immediately and give full details of the vehicle and possible occupant.”
“Police are asking residents to be vigilant to friends and family that may have a drink and then decide to drive a vehicle.
“If you have had a drink it is best not to take the risk. Losing your licence, job or being given a prison sentence is not the best ways to be starting 2012.
