Exmouth police are keen to trace two rare coins stolen from a home in Brixington. The coins date back to Judean times.
Two rare coins dating back to the Judean times have been stolen from a home in Brixington, Exmouth police have revealed.
A home in Parkside Drive was recently burgled and a number of possessions, including expensive silver tableware, jewellery and two rare, ancient, coins identified as silver Judean Half Shekels, which are over a thousand years old.
The police are appealing for witnesses and are asking anyone offered the coins to come forward.
Officers said the date of the burglary was unclear because the property had been empty for several weeks.
Police community support officer Chris Ball said: “The coins are approximately the size of a fifty pence piece and have distinctive Hebrew writing on and are embossed with images of a pomegranate plant on one side and a cup on the reverse.”
