Police appeal after Exmouth man gets ‘serious’ ear injury

Police are appealing to the public to help them discover what happened to Peter Wilkinson who sustained a serious ear injury.
Police are appealing to the public to help them discover how a man sustained serious injuries to his ear in Exmouth.
Officers say 53-year-old Peter Wilkinson awoke after a night out with no recollection of how he sustained his injuries to his ear as well as cuts and bruises; police are investigating if he was a victim of an assault.
Detective Inspector Grant Leitch from Exmouth CID, said: “We are appealing to the public for information to help us understand how Mr Wilkinson sustained his injuries in the early hours of Saturday, August 12.
“He last remembers leaving Wings Bar at around 0.20am after having a couple of drinks, then moving to the Strand pub before walking along Exeter Road in Exmouth.
“The next thing he remembers is being woken up at home by his partner having sustained a serious ear injury and covered in cuts and bruises.
“Peter was taken to hospital where he need 25 stitches to reattach part of his left ear.
“We would like to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of Exmouth Strand and the Magnolia centre between 00:20 and 1am, who may have seen anything suspicious, or who may have witnessed an assault.”
