Police appeal after 14-year-old girl assaulted

Police in Exmouth are appealing for information following an assault on a 14-year-old girl in the town.

The incident happened at around 8.20am on Wednesday, September 10, in Church Road.

A man is said to grabbed the girl by her shoulder as she was walking.

A woman saw the incident and shouted at the man who ran off.

A police spokesman said: “The girl was unharmed, but naturally shocked.”

The offender is described as being aged around 30 to 40 years, of skinny build, not very tall with stubble which was quite dark. He wore blue jeans.

Distinctive features included the fact that he did not have very good teeth, and may have had a tooth missing, and was wearing a silver ring on his right hand ring finger, which had a gold stripe running around the middle.

Police are appealing for information and in particular would like to speak to the woman who witnessed the incident and intervened.
