Poetical view of ASDA plans

Please can you print my poem about the proposed estuaryside development. I thought it would keep the balance going of letters for and against the development, which your newspaper is good at doing.

Please can you print my poem about the proposed estuaryside development. I thought it would keep the balance going of letters for and against the development, which your newspaper is good at doing.

It is based on what people have said to me about the area/development and I have condensed these into a poem.

ASDA is here, oh well.

Traffic is now pure Hell!

Building of such height

Carrier bags blow of the estuary sands

Give wading birds such a fright.

Sudden closure of the town

Shops all empty, no-one around.

People's heads were in the clouds,

Thoughts just of saving a few measly pounds.

People now realise it was a mistake.

To build on such a beauty site.

Now it's built it is too late,

Exmouth town has met its fate.

J Gittings,

8 Highbury Park,

Exmouth.

PS I have just bought a copy of your East Devon Views magazine - excellent! I look forward to the next issue
