In reply to Hugo Swire's article in The Journal on June 12.Dear Hugo,I was utterly shocked and dismayed to read your article in this week's Journal regarding the proposal for an Asda supermarket on the Exe Estuary side. I, along with many others, read in disbelief that you are actually condoning a supermarket at all on this area. How many times do the people of Exmouth have to spell it out - WE DO NOT WANT A SUPERMARKET ON THIS AREA! I cannot understand how you think a supermarket can be environmentally friendly to this unique spot and why you think the design of it is going to make any difference to the wildlife inhabiting this area. More than 11,000 people are banking on you to help in stopping this atrocity. The ugly looking building and loss of views are, of course, a major concern, but it is the whole moral, ethical and environmental issues that concern the majority of people. I have spoken to people about this. The community are up in arms regarding the way this is being dealt with and we seriously wish you would search your soul on this issue and do what you know in your heart is right. From a very concerned constituent.Ms A J Rivers,41 Churchill Road, Exmouth.
