Plan for new flats in Exmouth approved

Plans to create 12 flats by converting and extending a home in Exmouth have been approved by East Devon District Council (EDDC).

The plan is for the conversion to take place at 4 Elwyn Road.

A previous proposal for 10 flats at the same site had been approved last year.

Members of Exmouth Town Council’s planning committee previously supported the new application.

A report on the scheme by EDDC planning officers states: “The proposed development is considered to represent an acceptable form of development which would respect the character and appearance of the area, would not result in detriment to highway safety and would not have any significant impact on residential amenity.

“While it is a large extension, it is considered that the site can accommodate this level of development without compromising the integrity of the existing building.

“The increase in the number of apartments to 12 is also not considered to be unreasonable.”
