A theatre group will be among those to benefit from the latest grants agreed by Exmouth Town Council.

Councillors approved an application for £1,000 a year for three years from Exmouth Musical Theatre Company at their annual town council meeting.

Councillors also agreed grants of £685 to Relate Exeter and District, as a contribution towards the cost of providing services in Exmouth, and £540 to the South West Brass Band Association, as a contribution towards the hosting cost of the Exmouth Brass Band Festival.

Regarding Exmouth Musical Theatre Company, Councillor Cherry Nicholas said: “I personally think they are well deserving and we need to keep the musical theatre going in Exmouth.”

Regarding Relate, Cllr Nicholas said the council previously deferred a decision on the application, to seek reassurances about how much work was carried out in Exmouth, and had now been told that residents had received 85 hours of support last year at a cost of £4,420.
