BAN the word retirement for your own health, according to the latest research from a leading psychologist.

Psychologist Honey Langcaster-James is calling for a ban on the word retirement because it no longer reflects the reality of growing old for the baby boomer generation in Devon.

She said that forcing active people to view their lives post 65 as a time to work and slow down could have severe implications for their mental and physical health.

Her research shows people starting retirement should look to keep active, make plans for the future and redefine themselves according tot heir own identity.
