Exmouth detectives are appealing for witnesses after a pensioner had her handbag snatched in Exmouth while in broad daylight.

A pensioner had her handbag snatched in broad daylight while walking in Exmouth, sparking a police appeal for witnesses.

Detectives at Exmouth are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the culprit steal the bag from the 78-year-old woman as she walked with a friend in Long Lane, at the junction of Cranford Close, at 4.30pm on Monday June 13.

The man police are keen to trace is described as 5’ 10”, white, of a slim build, aged in his early 20s, had medium-length mousey brown hair, was clean shaven and wearing a grey hooded jumper.

Detective Sergeant Zoe Nowell said: “The woman and her friend were walking along minding their own business.

“A male came up behind them and grabbed her handbag and ran off towards Cranford Avenue.

“We are appealing to anyone who was in that area at that time, who may have seen him run off, or take the bag.”
