Peking to Paris challenge: buddies get ready to race from Beijing to Exmouth

A pair of petrolheads are set to drive nearly 9,000 miles from Beijing to Exmouth for charity.
World of Country Life managing director Nigel Lee and Richard Turner are taking part in the Peking to Paris 2016 motoring challenge.
The event in June will see the pair drive through 12 countries in a Ford 62 rally car with 120 other participants.
Nigel said all of the money raised will go to Force cancer charity in Exeter.
Nigel said: “The Force cancer charity is a local charity, which does some fantastic work. We are going from Beijing to Exmouth, which is nearly 9,000 miles.
“We are going in a 1938 Ford 62. The reason we are going in that is because Richard loves old cars and I said we should go in a British built car.
“We are going through 12 countries and we will be in Russia together for my 50th birthday. I’m excited, worried and nervous for the event.
“I think spending 36 days with someone is a test of anyone’s friendship. Richard is a vet and I’m a farmer.
“As long as we come back with some money it will be fine.”
The pair spent 16 months getting the car ready for the challenge.
Nigel revealed the car will be on public display at World of Country Life in Littleham after the pair return from their trip. The duo has so far raised £4,000.
