Parish council backs village blueprint

A draft blueprint for the future of East Budleigh has been given the ‘unanimous’ support of the parish council.

Dr Stanley Roberts, chairman of the Neighbourhood Plan committee, presented the draft proposal to parish councillors.

East Budleigh with Bicton Parish Council unanimously agreed to support the document, which sets out how residents want to village to look in the future.

Parish council chairman David Buss admitted his delight with the plan its current form.

Speaking after the meeting, he said: “The parish council was impressed with it and supported it, meaning it will go to the next stage.

“It has to be circulated to everyone in the parish and interested parties to get their input.”

He added that the village’s neighbourhood plan was following an example set by Lympstone, which had its blueprint in place.

After a six-week period, when the draft plan will be circulated around residents and businesses in the village, there will be a referendum.

If more than 50 per cent of those who vote decide to support the plan, it will be put before East Devon District Council for final ratification.
