A spokeswoman for the event said: “We have been very lucky to have received some matched- funding for part of the amount from Barclays Bank, who have been amazing in supporting the pre-school over the last few years.”

The 10 women walked or ran a return journey to Cockwood, near Starcross, from the Swan Inn, Lymsptone.

The walk took the group nine hours to complete, and two-and-a-half-hours for those running half-marathon distances.
