A family-run care home in Otterton were visited by a celebrity television and radio presenter and her long-time sidekick as part of a Hopsiscare’s fundraising coffee mornings.

Judi Spiers and ‘Gus Honeybun’ – her long-time companion on Devon-based Westward Television – were the guests of honour at The Old Vicarage’s fundraiser for the charity.

The residents’ main lounge was transformed into a vintage tea-shop with background music performed by pianist Bruce Odlin. Residents enjoyed creating their own teapot decorations, along with flower arrangements inside them.

A total of £700 was raised for Hospiscare on the day.

Old Vicarage owner Rebecca Parkin said: “It was great to have Judi and Gus join us in raising funds for Hospiscare, a charity very close to our hearts.”

Judi added: “A massive thank you to The Old Vicarage for hosting a wonderful coffee morning and I am delighted to say the monies raised on the day will help to ensure Hospiscare is here for more than 2,000 patients every year.”
