A Topsham couple have once again opened their garden to visitors to raise money for Hospiscare.

Jennifer and Paul Bliss let people explore their garden at Conway House, with Hospiscare volunteers on hand to sell plants and collect donations.

Although the weather wasn’t the warmest, it was an improvement on last year, when a hailstorm damaged plants the day before. This year’s event attracted more than 100 visitors, and raised more than £560.

Jennifer said: “It was very good, considering the weather was so cold.

“We were delighted. People turned up, and were all very interested – it was so interesting seeing the buds coming out.”

Conway House is only the first garden in Topsham which will be opened for Hospiscare this summer.

Future openings will be at Furlong in Ferry Road on June 2, Drake’s Cottage and Wixels on June 30, and Riversmeet on July 21.

A Jazz in the Garden event will then be held in Victoria Road in September.
