AN Exmouth charity shop is appealing for donations of old mobile phones in a bid to break a world record.

Scope, in Exeter Road, and the charity's recycling partner Redeem will be attempting to break the Guinness World Record for collecting the greatest number of used mobile phones donated in one week.

Old handsets can be left at the Exmouth charity shop between January 8-15.

Only those received during this time will count towards the record attempt.

Nick Mitchell, area manager from Scope said: "We are calling on people to dig out their old phones - and help us ring in the changes for Scope's work with disabled people.

"Don't put recycling on hold and dump your phone, donate it to Scope instead.

"Every phone counts and will bring us a step closer to achieving a new world record breaker.
