Town planners on Monday accepted the recommendations of East Devon's tree officer that the crown of the western side of the tree in Trefusis Terrace should be cut back.

Some drivers had complained that the trees' branches 'touched' the roofs of their vehicles as they drove down the Terrace.

As of last year planning applications regarding protected trees can be determined by town planners.
