Oh, no!" was my response to hearing the news Asda had pulled out of coming to Exmouth. I cannot help but have great suspicions that those in position are rubbing their hands with glee at this outcome but, for the majority of us living in Exmouth, this is yet another nail in the coffin towards making Exmouth the ghost town it is rapidly becoming. And when did Exmouth become such a huge expanse of shopping areas that the powers that be feel a need to waste thousands of pounds painting/paving it to encourage people to walk around? I thought the plans for Asda would be very rewarding for Exmouth. ASDA would draw people into the town and provide much needed employment. I think people need to ask themselves what has Exmouth got going for it - with a heavy heart, I have to say not much. We cannot even stand behind that old advertising of "two miles of golden sands" because that has now vanished to the Pole Sands. As for complaints of the new bowling alley's roof being too high, I would just like to draw your attention to the fact that the row of evergreen trees behind it are actually a good six to seven foot higher still so, if anything, they should be lopped down and then the complaining can be justified.Andrea Smale,8 Meadow View Road, Exmouth.
