PEOPLE in Devon are being asked to nominate local NHS staff who have made a great contribution to improve patient care.

PEOPLE in Devon are being asked to nominate local NHS staff who have made a great contribution to improve patient care.

Nominations are now open for the 2009 Devon Primary Care Trust (PCT) staff awards.

The public can nominate members of staff who have impressed with their commitment to improve the experience of patients and colleagues.

It may be that the staff members have gone out of their way or worked in a new and innovative way to improve patient care.

Patients, carers and PCT staff members are also able to nominate.

Nomination categories for the public are:

Outstanding contribution award, inspiration award, lifetime recognition award, creativity and innovation award, user engagement award and service user improvement award.

There are also categories for volunteer award, award for excellence, health and social care delivery award and corporate sustainability award.

The closing date for entries in is 28 August 2009. Individuals and care teams can be nominated in as many categories as appropriate.

Three nominations in each category will be selected by a panel of senior managers and staffside representatives. PCT staff will then vote to select the overall winners.

The awards will be presented at the PCT's annual general meeting at Abode, Cathedral Green in Exeter on September 23 2009.
