AN EXMOUTH nightclub has backed out of a major refurbishment which promised the town a restaurant and a more upmarket club.
The owner of Fahrenheit nightclub revealed it would not go-ahead with its plans for refurbishment because of the gloomy outlook of Exmouth's town centre.
Owner John Justin said: "The town is about to die - it would have cost us 300,000 to refurbish the club when the town is in the middle of an identity crisis."
The club is planning to change its style of music though with Fridays alternating from Funk, House and Drum and Base; although on Saturdays the music will remain mainstream.
The top bar will become VIP only with waiter service with special cocktails available and accommodating groups.
Entry is free before 1am.
