‘Slinky’ slimmer Hayley Allen will be celebrating her new figure this festive party season, instead of hiding away and making excuses to stay at home.

The 38-year-old, who dropped three dress sizes after joining the Withycombe Slimming World group at the end of January, has been voted to represent her group in a national weight loss competition.

Hayley, who weighed 12st 1lbs and wore a dress size 16 at her heaviest, is now a ‘slinky’ 9st 4lbs and a dress size 10.

She said she was ‘surprised and delighted’ to be announced as the Slimming World group’s ‘Miss Slinky’ winner. She said: “Christmas is a time of year for getting dressed up and having a good time.

“Before I lost weight, I would dread it though, because I could never find anything to wear on nights out and I would feel uncomfortable and out of place - that’s if I didn’t make an excuse to avoid socialising completely.

“This year, I’ll be accepting every invitation I receive and instead of hiding in baggy or black clothes. I’ll be showing off my new figure – I can’t wait.

“When I was bigger I was really unhappy. I didn’t like what I saw when I looked in the mirror. I hated shopping for clothes and I felt self-conscious most of the time.

“Things are completely different now and I feel much more confident than I used to.

“I never thought anyone would ever describe me as ‘slinky’ so it’s just incredible to be Miss Slinky 2015.

“Winning the title of Miss Slinky means I have even more to celebrate and I know this festive season will be even more special.”

Hayley added: “I was very nervous when I first walked through the doors of the group because I expected everyone to judge me, but I needn’t have worried because everyone was so friendly and welcoming.

“I’ve made friends and I love swapping recipes and ideas every week.

“My consultant, Lisa, has been so supportive too; she’s positive and enthusiastic and is always at the end of the phone if I need her.”

Slimming World’s annual Miss Slinky competition recognises those female members who have changed both inside and out by becoming healthier, slimmer and more confident - looking great in their party dress.

The competition has a version for men members, ‘Mr Sleek’. Mark Bianco was named Withycombe Slimming World group’s Mr Sleek, losing almost two stone.

Both members are in with a chance to win £2,000 if they are crowned national winners.
