Bicton College has joined forces with the Exeter Chiefs to launch a rugby academy.
The academy aims to develop talented young players over the age of 16 and will provide coaching alongside a vocational qualification.
Bicton College is also offering residential accommodation to students, which means talented players will be able to take advantage of a whole range of complementary benefits, including fitness and conditioning training, nutritional support and pastoral care.
Andrew Webb, Exeter Chief’s academy coach at Bicton College, said: “This is a real boost for young players all over the region. The academy will help us to find and develop the very best young rugby talent while supporting them in their studies.”
This season has already seen 20 young players join Bicton College, all of whom are studying a range of courses while playing rugby – from outdoor adventure through to arboriculture.
The academy students train at Exeter Chiefs’ Sandy Park three times per week and are given individual fitness programmes to follow.
