MOVES to add another mobile phone dish to a mast in Pound Lane has been backed by town planners.

MOVES to add another mobile phone dish to a mast in Pound Lane has been backed by town planners.

Adam Holmes Associates have applied, on behalf of Orange, to add the extra dish, at the radio base station at Danby Motors.

Planning chairman Lynne Elson on Monday said that the height of the mast would not increase - an extra dish would be added to the existing mast.

Town councillor Malcolm Mitchell said: "Within 50 to 200 metres is a school with 450 pupils.

"The increase of radiation could affect them - the school and the governing body should have had notification."

A spokesman for Orange said they would be making a formal application to EDDC planners by tomorrow (Friday).

The plans are available for viewing at the town hall.
