A traditional tearoom in Budleigh Salterton has been sold off an asking price of £99,950 to new owner Anthony Bird.

Mr Bird said he and his partner, Deborah, planned to extend The Cosy Teapot’s menu while maintaining the tearoom’s long-established service.

He said winter trading would continue, and looked forward to working with the town’s traders.

New owner Anthony Bird, said: “Deborah and I are pleased to have acquired The Cosy Teapot and to join the business community in Budleigh Salterton.

“We look forward to welcoming customers old and new. The business will remain open during the winter months.

“We plan to introduce some new dishes to complement the existing menu and to carry on the tradition of serving quality meals at a competitive price.”

Mike Phillips, director at property agent Stonesmith, said:

“The sale of The Cosy Teapot generated significant levels of interest and we were able to swiftly agree terms with Anthony and Deborah. We wish them every success with their new venture.”
