NEW weekly sessions for new parents and toddlers in Littleham have started.
The Childrens Centre have joined forces with East Devon District Council’s SWITCH Project Littleham and set up a new group for young parents and their children aged up to five years.
The free sessions are being run every Monday from 1.30pm to 3pm at Clayton House Little ham.
The group will provide an informal opportunity for local young parents and step parents to meet with each other and for the children to play.
During the sessions parents can seek advice and information on a range of issues such as child health, housing, parenting issues and information on training, volunteering and work opportunities.
In future activities could include cookery workshops for the adults and during the first few sessions there will be a range of toys, a craft table and songs and rhymes to end the session.
Polly Anderson, East Devon District Council’s Community Development Worker for Youth) said:
”This is a fantastic opportunity for the young parents on the Littleham estate and surrounding areas to have a free provision right on their doorstep. I really look forward to working with the Childrens Centre on this project and meeting the needs of the parents and children in this area.”
SWITCH provides activities for children and young people, a weekly information service with free internet access for the 16 – 25 year olds and train community volunteers to help provide community activities on Exmouth housing estates
