Following a recommendation from car park inspectors, the authority investigated the possibility of renaming the London Inn car park.
Inspectors claimed residents are more likely to refer to the facility as the Magnolia Centre car park, though following consultation with the town council - who placed the name change on a recent meeting agenda for discussion - any potential change was scrapped.
A spokesman for EDDC said: "Our senior inspector wanted to seek the local view and raised the question with Exmouth Town Council.
