REGARDING your "Woodbury of Old" column on August 6 about the King George V Jubilee Medal.

My book* states that 85,234 medals were struck in silver at the Royal Mint. These were given to officers of state, mayors, public servants, the armed services etc.

My grandfather was a police sergeant in the City of London and he received one, which I have in my collection.

I do not think "one in ten" constables in the whole of England sounds correct, but I may be wrong.
