Her audition ‘impressed’ judges.

A teenage singer from Exmouth is hoping to wow the judges when she performs later this month at the Britain Does Variety regional finals in Exeter.

Caitlin Damsell will have just turned 14 when she steps on stage at the Barnfield Theatre singing On My Own from Les Miserables.

Her proud mum Jo said Caitlin had impressed the judges at her April audition, when she sang There Are Worse Things I Could Do from Grease.

She said the panel had described her daughter as having a “strong voice, very suited to musicals”. Jo added: “Caitlin has always wanted to perform a solo and it was this drive that had her seeking out an avenue to do this.

“I am really pleased the judges recognised her talent and for her to have a chance to sing the songs she loves.”

Caitlin will also perform at the Exmouth Festival, where on June 7 she will sing a quartet of songs and play her piano as part of the young and emerging talent day.

Tickets to see Caitlin in the Britain Does Variety show are priced £8 for the matinee performance, available by emailing JDamsell@aol.com or telephoning her on 07908 661177.
