A new support service has been launched for dementia sufferers and their carers in Brixington.

Singing for the Brain is a social activity designed to bring fun and confidence to the lives of people affected by memory problems.

Hidden in the fun are activities which build on the well-known preserved memory for song and music in the brain.

Paul King said “These sessions can give people with dementia and carers a positive view of life. Even when many memories are hard to retrieve, music is especially easy to recall.

“We would like to express our gratitude to Brixington Church for the warmth of their welcome.”

The sessions, each Wednesday, held by the Alzheimer’s Society, are from 2pm to 4pm, at the Brixington Community Church Hall, Churchill Road.
