Mud, mud, glorious mud was enjoyed by a group of nature lovers exploring the Exe Estuary.

The mud walk, organised by East Devon District Council Countryside education rangers, prompted children and adults take a close-up look at shoreline wildlife.

A district council spokeswoman said: “The mud walk provided a fantastic opportunity for families to explore the wildlife found in the mud in Exmouth.

“Both children and adults enjoyed looking for shells and crabs and even digging for lugworms.

“Everyone declared it to be an excellent and highly educational morning.”
