I am very glad to see that the Sleeman family are working together to keep the famous men s clothing shop in Exeter Street open, and wish them well.

Having been born in 1922, the late Mr Bill Sleeman was a year older than me, and I enjoyed talking with him when I came into the shop to buy something.
He told me stories of the way Exmouth used to be in his younger days. Shopkeepers then lived above their shops.
Mr Sleeman said that this meant there was a much livelier social life in the centre of the town than there is now.
I am missing Mr Sleeman very much, as I am sure many people are.
I salute the lifetime of service he and his father gave to the citizens of Exmouth. I should not forget his wife, who valiantly assisted him in the shop.
