An account manager who grew up in Exmouth is to run her first marathon in memory of her mum.
Jenny Pritchard, 42, has set herself the task after her mother, Gill Robertson, who lived in Littleham, Exmouth, died last April, aged 68, following a stroke. Jenny will be taking on the Southampton Marathon in aid of the Stroke Association.
She said: “I am nervous, but I am looking forward to running the marathon. It is not as bad as I thought it would be. I have done a lot of half marathons, but never a full one. I would not be doing this if I wasn’t raising money for Stroke Association. Before Mum had a stroke, she was a healthy 68-year-old. It was extremely sudden.”
Gill used to volunteer at Withycombe Raleigh Playgroup and Marpool Primary School.
