More than 2,000 homes in Exmouth were without power last week after two overhead lines were brought down.

According to Western Power Distribution, some properties were without power for more than six hours on Wednesday evening (May 30).

The initial electrical outage began at 8.20pm with 2,184 homes left without power.

Some 1,185 of these had their electricity back within three minutes while others had to wait until 8.40pm.

A Western Power Distribution spokesperson said: “Two overhead lines in Exmouth were brought down which caused the incident.”A second power outage followed at 8.55pm due to wires being down with nearly 1,000 homes in the Withycombe area being plunged into darkness.

Some 799 of these had their power restored by 9.10pm with everyone being back on by 3.15am.
